For his medical practice, Ruslan Mellin, the maxillofacial surgeon, saw many mutilated people. As an artist, he made pencil sketches of their portraits, from which a whole series of expressive drawings and a book, which is now in front of you, was later born. “Sick reality” is the story of a doctor and a contemporary artist about his patients who became victims of someone else's cruelty. Ruslan Mellin is shared by the most terrible, atypical and sometimes shocking cases that have met over the years of his work. His heroes are most often women who suffered from domestic violence, but among them there are men, children, homeless, prisoners. All stories described in the book are real, and each of them hides not only a serious physical trauma, but also a deep psychological wound.
