Silent cry

London, 1860. A silent January night, a terrible scream spread through the narrow dirty lanes of St. Jayls, one of the poor and dangerous areas of the city. The police who came running to the noise found two battered respectably dressed gentlemen. One of them was dead, the other barely breathed. Sergeant John Iven urgently delivered the victim to the hospital. The damage on his body was terrible, and most importantly, he was speechless and could not tell anything.
