Pavel Petrovich Bazhov (1879-1950) was born in the Urals in the factory village of Syserter, in the family of a mining master. He spent his childhood among prospectors and masters who mines and process malachite and mica. After graduating from the spiritual seminary, he taught Russian in Yekaterinburg, traveled a lot around the Urals, collected folk headings, legends and fairy tales. On this material, the famous Bazhov tales were created, works in which truth and fiction are inextricably intertwined.

“Silver Hoof” is one of the most famous tales, this is the story of the friendship of a little girl of Darynka, her cats Murian and a magical creature having a special gift to open natural treasures.
