Nikolai Pavlovich Zadornov (1909-1995) - a famous Russian writer, Honored Worker of Culture of the Latvian SSR (1969). Two cycles of historical novels about the development of the Russian people of the Far East in the 19th century belong to him, about the exploits of explorers.

the novel “Simoda” continues the story of the heroic Russian sailors Admiral Putyatin, who, after an unprecedented catastrophe and death of the ship, were in the same way closed, not allowing foreigners of Japan. The novel takes place in 1855 during the Crimean War.
