In front of you is the fairy tale Charles Perrault “Sleeping Beauty”, the illustrations for which was performed by the wonderful English artist Walter Crane (1845-1915). He illustrated more than 50 books for children, becoming one of the most popular artists of the book. Crane believed that children prefer to see the exact lines, clearly marked forms and figures, bright saturated colors. With his illustrations, he sought to amaze the imagination of children. Together with the artist Edmund Evans, he created one of the first in the history of color children's books. Crane also experienced a significant influence of Japanese engraving, which, according to the artist, was absolutely consistent with the features of children's perception.
