Sergey Dovlatov is a modern classic, one of the most read Russian writers of the last quarter of the 20th century. The true volume of the chosen one included such widely known works as “Zone”, “Compromise”, “Reserve”, “Our”, “Branch”. “It’s easy to read it. He, as it were, does not require attention, does not insist on his conclusions or observations over human nature, and does not impose himself for the reader. I swallowed his books on average in three to four hours of continuous reading: because it was from this unobtrusiveness of his tone that it was difficult to tear himself away.
