Social stories. Innovative methodology for the development of social competence in children with autism
“Social stories” - a methodology widely used throughout the world, the purpose of which is to help develop social skills to children and adolescents with autistic spectrum disorders.
The proposed edition consists of two parts. The first part - the guide to create social stories - contains ten scientifically based and practically tested criteria, which generally constitute a methodology for creating high -quality social stories, taking into account all the obligatory components, including the name, structuring, style, and practical application. The second part - 185 examples of social stories - will help solve the most common behavioral problems that arise in children with autism at home, at school and in public places. The combination of theoretical and practical parts enables parents and specialists how to use stories in finished form, and create them on their own, helping children easier to adapt to the outside world from the first years of life to adolescence.
The publication is addressed to parents and specialists who can apply the author’s methodology when working with children with autistic spectrum disorders, as well as with their typically developing peers.
