The play “The Morrian Brotherhood” of the Russian writer, publicist and playwright Peter Dmitrievich Boborykin (1836–1921) is a wonderful sketch on the life and morals of writers in Russia of the 1860s, where the personal drama of writers unfold against the background of an equally of an equity in one of famous thick magazines. P.D. Boborykin, an attentive observer and chronicler of the era, recorded in detail the events of cultural life that took place around him, in which he himself took an active part as the author, employee and publisher of the journal “Library for Reading”.

In the "Sorrow's Brotherhood" a whole gallery of portraits is presented: the prototypes for its heroes were N. G. Ponyalovsky, ap. A. Grigoryev, N. A. Nekrasov, N. N. Strakhov and a number of other noticeable participants in the literary life of those years. The text of the work is published for the first time, the manuscript itself was considered its author lost. The Pisar copy of the "mournful fraternity" was discovered in the formation of the Fund of Rare Books of the Scientific Library of the RanchiS. Previously, it belonged to the famous bibliophile and bibliographer E.I. Yakushkin (1826–1905). It was on this instance that the real edition was prepared.
