The attention of readers is proposed to the book of an outstanding German psychiatrist and neuropathologist, one of the founders of scientific psychiatry, Wilhelm Grinzger (1817-1868), dedicated to the consideration of mental illness, their diagnosis and treatment. The work includes five sections. In the first section of the books, methods of studying mental diseases are highlighted, elementary mental disorders, as well as elementary disorders of sensitivity and movement, are investigated. The second section discusses the causes of mental illness, an individual and general predisposition to them. The third section is devoted to the description of the forms of mental illness. The fourth section sets out the pathological anatomy of mental illness. Finally, the fifth section is devoted to the methods of treating mental illness.
The book is recommended for psychiatrists, psychologists and historians of psychology, will also be useful to medical students and all interested readers.
