Sovereign. About military art

The most famous work of the writer was the treatise “Sovereign”, originally published in Russia under the names “Prince” and “Governor”. Machiavelli created the doctrine of a consistently secular state free from church morality. He believed that in the struggle for the consolidation of the state any means are acceptable: violence, deception, betrayal.

The term “Machiavellism” that later appeared, began to denote a policy that neglects the laws of morality. However, today, many provisions of the author are perceived as of course, finding their embodiment in the history of the 20th century.

The book also includes a brilliant treatise of Niccolo Machiavelli “On Military Art”, which stunned contemporaries with a rigid and practical approach not only to military tactics, but also to the strategy.
