Sovereign. About military art. Machiavelli N.

The winged phrase “The end justifies the means” has become one of the most popular in the world, and “Sovereign” Niccolo Machiavelli (1469–1527) is the main book of power, state and politics in history, having forever turned into a desktop for many state leaders, leading politicians and businessmen. This treatise of the legendary politician, historian and philosopher of the Renaissance, written already five centuries ago, covers in detail the management methods and all the skills that should be in the arsenal of each successful ruler. Having deeply studied the military history and taking into account their own experience in organizing the troops of the Florentine Republic in another treatise - “On Military Art” - Machiavelli thoroughly analyzed the strategy and tactics of military operations (so, he sharply criticizes the armed forces consisting of mercenaries).

In this edition, both greatest treatises are published together. The treatise “On Military Art” is supplemented by an article by the outstanding historian Hans Delbryuk, in which this work of Machiavelli is detailed.
