The book “Soviet photography: 1956-1986” is the first attempt to systematically state the history of Soviet photography from the post-plain period up to perestroika. The author identifies three stages-1956-1962, 1963-1968, 1969-1986, in each of which the formation and development of three types of photography traces-photo report, club photography and photographicandgrands. Each historical stage is analyzed from the point of view of the sociocultural situation in the country. The work of the most striking photographers of the highlighted periods is also considered here. In total, the book contains creative biographies of 105 Soviet photographers.
The publication is addressed to a wide range of readers interested in photography and the history of Russian culture.
