The reader’s attention is proposed to a small book of the famous Soviet theoretical physicist A.Z. Petrova (1910–1972), in which the foundations of the theory of relativity are popularly presented. Particular attention is paid to the history of the development of the principle of relativity, which continues in our time and will continue in the future along with the development of physics.
