Spatial constructions in ancient Russian painting. Raushenbakh B.V.

In the book “Spatial Buildings in Old Russian Painting” (1975), B.V. Raushenbach analyzes the principles of transmission of prospects in the works of medieval artists, revealing the general trends of spatial solutions and their close connection with an intuitive visual perception on many visual examples. Compared to the usually used concept of perspective, the term “spatial constructions” allows us to more widely cover the subject of research aimed at clarifying the geometric features of the transmission of space on the image of the image.
