Spatial constructions in painting. Raushenbakh B.V.
Passing the three-dimensional world on the plane of the picture, the artist is facing the task of displaying the volume-plastic properties of objects and constructing the image space. In the book “Spatial Images in Painting”, Boris Raushenbach analyzes the principles of transmission of perspective, based on the mathematical apparatus and psychology of visual perception.
The author considers these theoretical issues on the material of the art of ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages (Byzantium, ancient Rus', India, Iran) and the work of the field of Cesanne. Compared to the usually used concept of perspective, the term “spatial constructions” allows us to more widely cover the subject of research aimed at clarifying the geometric features of the transmission of space on the image of the image.
