How are social and cultural processes reflected in urban spaces? And what can ethnography tell about this? Based on more than twenty years of experience of field research, Anthropologist Seta Lowe shows how spatial analysis is able to shed light on the everyday life of people, in whose houses and places of residence, globalization, uneven spatial development (Uneven Development), violence and social inequality.. Law develops the concept of “spatial embodiment of culture”, which includes several conceptual frames at the same time: from social production and social design of space to the analysis of bodily, discourse, emotions, affects and translocability.

In combination of these approaches, the author sees a way to take a fresh look at the interaction of a person with the environment in urban planning and architecture. The task that its concept helps solve is to offer specialists new methods for creating a socially sensitive and environmentally stable urban environment.
