In the training manual, summarizing the multi-year pedagogical experience of the faculty of the Department of Nervous Diseases of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirova, taking into account the data of modern literature, is presented information about the anatomy, physiology, diseases and injuries of the spinal cord. Separately considered issues of embryogenesis, regeneration and abnormalities of the development of the spinal cord. Close attention is paid to topical diagnosis of spinal lesions with vascular, infectious, demyelinizing, neurodegenerative and systemic diseases. Special chapters are devoted to damage to the spinal cord for injuries, tumors, the effects of extreme factors, radiation and intoxication, as well as modern methods of studying spinal pathology and its rehabilitation. The publication is illustrated by tables, schemes, drawings and photographs, which facilitates the perception and improves the memorization of the material.
