The prickly mastic of BLLU is an evergreen coniferous tree with a conical crown, the branches are located dense correct tiers, horizontally or at a slight angle. The crown is very thick. Height 10-20 m to 30 years, diameter 6-8 m. An annual increase is 20-30 cm and 10 cm in width. Blue needles with a steel tint, hard, very prickly; needle, acute, 2-3 cm long, a thick wax plaque gives it a bluish-steel tint. With age, the tree acquires an increasingly silver-blue color. Light brown cones 6-10 cm long. The root system is superficial, wide, sensitive to soil compaction and flooding. This spruce variety itself forms the correct columnar crown.

grows perfectly in urban conditions. It is used to plant a thick, cut, impenetrable hedge. Used in single and in group compositions. It goes well with pine and fir, from deciduous - with mountain ash, maple and birch.
