The work of Viktor Nikolayevich Zemskov (1946–2015) is devoted to the current topic that causes discussion in the scientific environment and society. On the basis of statistical data and an extensive corps of written sources (including not previously published), the author gives an assessment of three key processes of the Stalin era: collectivization, industrialization and political repression.
