Stalky & Co. Sters and company. Book in English. Kipling R.J.
“Sters and Company” (1899)-the novel of the English writer Redyard Kipling about the life of teenage boys in a British boarding school. Kipling, recalling the years of studying at the Devonian College of United Services, tells about growing streams, mockurgical, and a beetle - the prototypes of the first two became Kipling's friends on college, and in the form of a beetle he showed himself. Three friends learn to withstand the cruelty of high school students, about which Kipling for the first time in the history of the school prose genre speaks openly, which shocks the English audience of his time. Kipling also violates another canon of the genre: at the end of the book, the reader will see already adult graduates of the college and learn about their service in India.
