Poet-chief, poet-mystics, poet. His Peru belongs to poems that determined the magical sound of the poetry of the Silver Age and at the same time became a connecting link between the literature of modern and classical Russian poetry. Above all, Alexander Blok appreciated “secret freedom” sung by Pushkin and granted to the poet in order to fulfill his mysterious purpose. Poetry was for him, as Vladislav Khodasevich wrote, "the first, real spiritual feat, inseparable from life."

The book included the chosen works of Alexander Blok, among which the poems that made up his lyrical “trilogy”, as well as the poem “Twelve”.
