Edward Luttvak is a famous specialist in military strategy and geopolitics. He worked as a consultant to the National Security Council and in the US State Department, was adviser to President Ronald Reagan. The creator of geoeconomics - the section of geopolitics, which studies the economic situation in various countries in order to increase the influence of the state from the standpoint of its economic power and ensure the achievement of foreign policy goals, world or regional power by economic means.
In the book Strategy: Logic of War and peace ”tells about the“ paradoxical ”logic underlying strategic thinking. Four levels of strategies are discussed: technology, tactics, operational art, the theater of military operations and a big strategy. The author analyzes the wars of a new type - “postheroic wars”, generated by fear of losses and the desire to avoid them at all costs.
