This publication included the novels “Sukhol” and “The Merry Yard”, the stories “Zakhar Vorobyov”, “Night conversation”, “On the road” and other works written between 1911 and 1916 - at a time when Ivan Alekseevich Bunin was no longer just an interest in a writer, but a sought -after prose writer, whose books diverge in large circulations.

The author’s works that are included in this collection are distinguished by vivid images, finely selected comparisons that are wested in the soul with descriptions: overgrown with grass in the Barsky Garden, an old mother, hurrying to visit a non-panel son and others,-- and equally difficult fate of completely different people: both ruined landowners, and ordinary peasants.
