Summer of the Lord. Shmelev I. S.

Ivan Sergeyevich Shmelev (1873-1950) - Russian writer, publicist, Orthodox thinker, was nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature. The tragic events associated with the revolution and military events, especially the execution of the twenty -five -year -old son, an officer of the tsarist army, in 1922 they moved Shmelev to emigration abroad. Boris Zaitsev wrote about Shmelev of that time: “The writer of strong temperament, passionate, stormy, very gifted and underground forever connected with Russia?” In many ways, the autobiographical novel “Summer of the Lord” (1933-1948) was written in exile. The protagonist, seven -year -old boy Vanya, talks about his memoirs from childhood, about his family, about events and holidays that have been especially remembered. I.A.
