Boston police detective Jane Rizzoli is investigating the brutal murder of the former banker's family. Miraculously managed to avoid the death of only the reception, the fourteen -year -old orphan Teddy. The boy received severe emotional injury, because just two years ago his relatives were shot on his yacht. Ritzoli decides that the best shelter for him will be the Vespers-boarding school, where children who have suffered from violent crimes live and study. Shortly before Teddy's arrival, the school accepts two more teenagers, and, according to a strange and terrible coincidence, they also shrugged twice and survived twice during a massacre. A shadow of violence loomed over them... But is the place in which these children are now so safe? The doubts of the Ritzoli are reinforced by terrible finds, and together with her friend and colleague, pathologist Maura Ailes, she comes into a fight with a sophisticated killer.
