William Butler Yates (1865–1939) - an Irish English poet, which belongs equally Irish and English literature, the nineteenth century and the twentieth. In his work, Celtic motifs merged with theosophy and occultism, the Renaissance feeling of the world as the theater - with mystical romanticism Blake and Shelley. Yates received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923, but created his best works later: these are, first of all, the collections of the Tower (1928) and the Randy Staircase (1933).
For the present publication, the translator and researcher of the work of Yates G. M. Kruzhkov selected the most characteristic verses of the poet - they are represented here in the original and in his translation.
