Tales collected by the brothers Grimms

The book is published according to the publication of A.F. Marx 1893. Translation from German edited by P.N. Field-Russian literary critic and translator.

The book is well illustrated by the artists of Grot-Johann and Lainweber. The publication included 183 works of masters.

“The collection of fairy tales of the brothers of the Grimmov” has long acquired in Europe, and in Russia we have such fame that a full publication could have long been almost urgent to be recognized as almost urgent the need of our book market. Several publications of this collection, who had already appeared in our translated literature, did not satisfy us, on the one hand, on their incompleteness, on the other-too much arbitrariness in the transmission of fairy-tale texts, and we decided to give a new translation of the Grimmovsky collection, using it to decorate it 183 The excellent illustrations of the artists of Grot-Johann and Laineber.

of 210 fairy tales and legends placed in the collection of the Grimm brothers, we placed in our publication 199, excluding the rest of our publication as not suitable, in terms of our content, to our household and literary conditions. All other fairy tales have been transmitted by us without the slightest cut or changes in the text, and we, therefore, have the right to name our publication of the Grimmovsky collection of fairy tales the most complete of all the transfers that are hitherto existing in Russian.
