Tales of Uncle Rimus. Harris D.
Joel Chandler Harris is an American journalist, a folklorist and writer. The image of the charming uncle Rimus J. Harris came up with, working in a newspaper. The humorous notes of “Uncle Rimus” about rural life were loved by readers, and J. Harris began publishing old tales and songs of black slaves in the newspaper. Soon the book “Uncle Rimus, his songs and fairy tales” appeared, which instantly scattered from the shelves and was repeatedly reprinted.
In total, J. Harris wrote about two hundred fairy tales told on behalf of Uncle Rimus, about brother Rabbit, brother Fox and their friends. Good, filled with humor and worldly wisdom, fairy tales are translated into many languages.
The book includes all the "Tales of Uncle Rimus" in the classical translation of M. Gershenzon, who were first published in Russian in 1936.
