written more than two thousand years ago “Book on the Way and Glory” - this is how the ancient name “Tao de Jing” (“Book of Tao and De”) can be translated - and today is one of the most famous sacred texts. Her author, Er, who received the nickname of Lao Tzu, which means “wise old man”-the figure is very mysterious. The thinker and poet, the founder of the religious and philosophical direction of Taoism, he was a contemporary of Confucius, served in the imperial archive, but, following his own teaching, did not strive for fame and had no disciples. Departing from the worldly fuss, he wrote a book, which, according to the historian Syma Qian, is “deep in content”, for it speaks of the meaning of life, about the “inner person”.
