The book of the author’s memoirs “Shadows” and “Ordinary Miracle”, “Dragon” and the script for “Cinderella”, the wise and storyteller Evgeny Schwartz, named at home-made “telephone book”, has no analogues in memoirs. Firstly, this is a real prose, written exclusively for yourself, without looking back at contemporaries and censorship, and therefore is absolutely true. Secondly, this is a noble prose, as its creator is noble,-devoid of envy and whining, strict to the author himself and fair to the life characters depicted in it.

Why is the “Telephone Book”, and not just the “Book of Memories”? Because the draft for the memory was a real telephone book with the names of the real people with whom the writer met in life - from “A” to “I”. From the famous, eminent, glorified, loving folk love to the small world, not claiming special glory, - masters in the installation of phones or the theater dressmaker.

Schwartz himself formulated the task of creating a book like this: “I write about living people, whom I consider in detail and accurately, like a navigation of nature. I am scared for recently that people of difficult time, under his pressure, accepting or not taking the most difficult forms, changing imperceptibly for themselves or stubbornly not noticing changes around - will disappear. No, easier. It’s scary to me that everything that is noisy and lives around is dying, and no one will remember them in a word - living. And this is not quite accurate. It seems to me that any living face is a historical face - and so on, and so on. So I write, calling the names and surnames of historical persons. ” And the writer fulfilled this set task with honor.
