Tempter. Zagoskin M.N.

“Tempting” is a work of the Russian writer and playwright, the founder of the Russian historical novel by M.N. Zagoskin (1789–1852). This novel was published in 1838. The author turned to the Gothic Roman. He explained: "I can’t describe what an inexplicable pleasure I feel whenever I listen to the story from which the hair on my head becomes on end, my heart freezes and the frost is torn off on the skin."

"The tempter" has become the most significant work of the author in this genre. Here, in the image of evil, who came from the west and trying to destroy Russian traditions, the writer unites new destructive ideas of “violent minds” that advocate the lawsuits, law. He openly talks about his course on “hard” patriotism.
