This book contains the treatise of the Roman architect and engineer Vitruvius, who lived in the second half of the 1st century. BC. e. During the reign of Julia Caesar and Emperor Octavian Augustus. The treatise “Ten Books on Architecture” is a whole encyclopedia of technical sciences of its time, combining the genres of practical leadership and generalizing theoretical work. For more than two thousand years, this famous work was transcribed, translated and commented on, being the foundation for developing the theory of architecture in many countries of the world.
The second edition of the book introduced corrections and clarifications prepared by the outstanding Soviet scientists, the historian of science, and the doctor art history V.P. Zubov and kindly provided by his daughter M.V. Zubova.
The book is addressed to architects, historians of science, culture and art, as well as all those interested in classical heritage.
