Teremok
Illustrations of Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Koshkin to the Russian folk tale “Teremok” are rightfully marked by the silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts. The artist boldly takes up the most difficult task: to give a new life to all the long -known fairy tale, which was illustrated and designed by dozens of talented masters of book art. A rare skill in everything to feel a measure, invariably distinguishing the book graphics of Koshkin, accompanies the master in this work. He skillfully avoids the temptation to oversaturate his illustrations, pseudo-folkloric eclecticism with the stereotypes of pseudo-folklore. It can be seen that the artist thoughtfully and painstakingly studies the traditions of Russian antiquity, revealing with great interest to himself - and therefore for young spectators - the richest heritage of folk art and life. The finest, carefully balanced harmony of colors and shades does not violate either the festive brightness of the coloristic solution, nor the patterned of the painted tower.
mother-of-pearl overflows of the heavenly surface pleasantly contrast with the fervent rhythm of the fairy tale, adjusting the reader in a more calm, thoughtfully-lyrical firm. Koshkin’s characters are funny without caricature and sweetness without sweetness. The artist gives each hero of the fairy tale his own, recognizable appearance - even a tiny flea. The action of illustrations is accompanied by an elegant ornamental framing of field herbs and flowers, which the young reader can find in his country, for a walk in the forest or in the park. So the fairy tale from the magic, gradually learn to see the beauty and miracles around themselves.
