Continuing the study begun in the book “Thaw: Events”, Sergei Chuprinin this time shifts the focus and introduces the reader to the iconic actors of that time. His book is a kind of encyclopedia containing biographical essays about writers, translators and philologists, editors and publishers, officials and chronicles of the era of thaw.

The author’s tasks included not only to establish accurate information about these people, but also to create their psychological portraits in order to reconstruct the motivations that stand behind their actions - noble or dishonest. Of these essays, a large “human comedy” of the thaw era consists of, and the fate of their heroes often intersect in the most bizarre way.
