The apostle of China
Archbishop Guri (Karpov, 1814-1882) worked for many years in the Beijing Spiritual Mission. He translated the New Testament, psalter, a number of liturgical books into Chinese. The Equal -to -the -Apostles of St. Guria in China brought rich fruits to the Russian Orthodox Church: hundreds of Chinese accepted Orthodoxy.
The Bishop Guri did a lot for the Tauride diocese, which he headed in 1867, becoming a bishop, and later - the Archbishop of Tauride and Simferopol.

In the proposed book, except for biography, the sermons of St. Guria Guria were collected , uttered by him from the Crimean department, as well as teachings for different occasions. Prayer and troparia are attached to the saint.
