The audience of opera and ballet. Expert-analytical report
The report presents some results of the empirical study of the audience of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko (MAMT), held in 2022-2023. The sociological group of the Department of Cultural Policy and the Economics of Art, as well as the sector of the theater of the State Institute of Art of Art, consisting of: A. S. Galkin, G. G. Gedovius, E. A. Dudkin, A. V. Makukhina T.V. Petrushin, village of Cult. A.A. Ushkarev (leader), to. G. M. Yusupova. In this study, the audience of the theater is also considered as a social group, the bearer of a complex system of artistic needs in the wide context of cultural life, and as a special socio-cultural phenomenon, part of the “global” community-audience of art.
The audience of opera and ballet performances was studied not only by the artistly described sociologists of objective parameters, but also for a number of difficult to measure and latent substantial features that are far beyond the limits of socio-demographic descriptions. The traditional capabilities of the sociology of art in this study were significantly expanded by using methods of mathematical statistics, which made it possible to prove the existence of a significant connection between the cultural activity of spectators with the type of motivation and the intellectual and cultural resource of the individual, and also ensured a qualitatively new level of reliability of the results.
Despite the uniqueness of the object of research - the public of a particular theater - the results of the study allow us to understand some general laws of the attitude of people to the art of opera and ballet, determine the measure of the influence of various motivations and individual preferences on the cultural activity of the audience, evaluate the spectrum of real the capabilities of the theater in a purposeful impact on their consumer behavior.
