The theater innovator, Chekhov himself ranked his plays, rather tragic, to the genre of comedy - which to this day causes disputes of literary critics and critics. Founding the plot of dramatic works to the subtext, Chekhov directs the whole power of his impressionistic method to describe the real life in its sad and funny manifestations, which continuously follow each other: moments of loneliness and love, festive and monetary concerns. And the main character is time that inevitably passes and imperceptibly leads a person to his end.
