The coming race. Bulver-Litton E.
The novel of the “Coming race” of the English writer Edward Bulver Litton (1803–1873) was published in 1872. The protagonist, a traveler, talks about a meeting with the underground race of superhumans who gained power over a living and dead nature with the help of Vril. Vril is a common source of Earth’s energy that can affect any manifestation of animal and plant life. The hero becomes clear - this civilization is able to exterminate humanity forever. The plot of the novel greatly impressed contemporaries: many theosophies (for example, R. Steiner and E. Blavatsky) saw the utopian world of the rulers Vril, scientists were inspired by the subsequent searches for the types of energy, and the rest noticed the satire on the social system of the 19th century.
