The book includes one of the most important works of the outstanding Russian historian, archaeologist and expert on the culture of Ancient Rus' Academician B. A. Rybakov “Craft of Ancient Rus'”. This essay is a doctoral dissertation of Rybakov (the defense took place in 1942) and actually marks the birth of an outstanding scientist. It was published in 1948 and was awarded the Stalin Prize. Since then, this compensation of scientific knowledge about the craft of Ancient Rus', about the techniques and technologies of crafts obtained on the basis of a thorough study of archeology and written sources, has won universal recognition in the scientific environment, laid the foundations for the emergence of many historical research of individual crafts.
