The criminal case of Francis Gary Powers. Zlobin V.
This publication contains materials from the trial in relation to the pilot Francis Gary Powers. The U-2 plane piloted by Powers for reconnaissance purposes on May 1, 1960 crossed the state border of the USSR. Under the Sverdlovsk, the plane was shot down by the Earth -Athos class. The pilot managed to jump out with parachute, was detained by local residents and transferred to the KGB organs. On August 19, 1960, F. G. Powers was sentenced by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR to 10 years in prison. On February 10, 1962, in Berlin, F. G. Powers was exchanged for the Soviet intelligence officer Rudolf Abel. The events that occurred clearly characterize the features of the Cold War, which existed between the USA and the USSR in the period under review.
