The death of Virgil. Broch G.
German Broch (1886–1951) - Austrian writer, playwright, philosopher, prose writer, essayist. He shared the fate of many of his contemporaries - including compatriots Franz Kafka and Robert Muzil, who during his lifetime were circumvented by readers, and after death suddenly found the status of large masters of literature and genuine classics of the 20th century. The novel “Death of Virgil” (published in 1945) is perhaps the most significant of the works of German Ros. Like Joyce, Brooch limits the time of action of the extended narrative for several hours - the last hours of the famous Roman poet Virgil, during which the inflamed consciousness of the dying summarizes the results of the past years and reassesses poetic achievements.
, in the thoughts of the dying Virgil about the turning point in which he had the opportunity to live, the resemblance implied by the author, which fell to the share of his contemporaries in the first half of the 20th century, is guessed by the author.
