The diary of the artist. Gauguin P.
When the name of the Gauguin field is called, the large ocean canvases with the sun pierced by the heat of the sun, with tightly hidden Tahitsa and Tahitsa, as it were, have grown with their large, slightly clumsy feet into hot ground, are called the name of Gauguin's field. Why, in this earthly paradise, in which the artist’s brush did not find a single dark spot, his life ended in poverty and grief? And what led to this strange, fabulous world of the painter, whom we call French, despite the fact that almost all of his creative life was connected with the islands of Oceania?
The answers to these questions can give an epistolary and literary heritage, which remains after the death of the artist and which is a kind of commentary on his vast creativity. These texts are the key to understanding both the complex creative path traveled by Gauguin, and his personal human fate, complete storms and shocks.
The present publication includes the chosen letters of Gauguin to his wife, to the artists (E. Bernara, M. Denn, D. de Montfrede and others), to writers and musicians with whom he was associated with friendly or business relations; as well as the autobiographical book “Noah” and excerpts from the book “Before and later”, written in Oceania shortly before the death of the artist.
