The book is the 23rd volume of the series dedicated to the white movement in Russia, and considers the struggle of the Don Cossacks against Bolshevism. It contains materials about the actual Don formations and their hostilities from the famous steppe campaign under the leadership of General P.Kh. Popov until the end of the existence of the Don Army as part of the All -Union. Much attention is paid to the memories of the raid on the rear of the Bolsheviks of General K.K. Mamontova, notes of generals P.N. Krasnova and A.V. Golubintseva.

No wonder the region of the all -Russian troops of Donskoy was called the Russian Vandei.

The book is equipped with vast and first published comments containing several hundred unknown biographical references about the authors and heroes of essays.
