The end of ancient music. Haines b
Bruce Haines (1940-2011) made a career as a Goboist in a classic orchestra and from his youth was interested in the history of performing practice and his instrument (in the late 1960s, he opened a workshop in California, where remarks of baroque goose were made under his leadership). The experience gained by him on modern and historical instruments, concerts and notes with famous musicians and collectives, communication with musicologists form the basis of this book.
The author tells how the codified musical recording and the spread of musical works on paper gradually cleared Western music of variability and made it “academic” - and how later, in the last half century, the academic musicians discovered their discipline for their discipline. The universe, from which, unable to completely subordinate it, this discipline has grown. Thus, the historical end of ancient music turned out to be a condition for its beginning, a new birth, to which the author of this book was also involved.
