Gaito Gazdanov (1903–1971) - one of the largest writers of Russian abroad. After the revolution, at the incomplete sixteen years, Gazdanov joined the white movement and served as an ordinary soldier on an armored train, and then was forced to leave Russia forever, sharing the fate of many Russian emigrants. He spent most of his life in Paris and worked for many years for many years, since 1953 he was a correspondent, and then the editor of Radio Liberty. The author fame, opening the doors of leading literary magazines in front of him. By the power of talent, contemporaries put Gazdanov on a par with Vladimir Nabokov, and among his “predecessors” they called Marseille Proust and Ivan Bunin, admiring the subtle poetry and musicality of his prose, the freshness and power of the language. However, in the writer’s homeland, the novel was published only after the death of the author, in 1990. In addition to the novel “Evening at Claire”, the real edition includes the stories of Gaito Gazdanov, written in the 1930s, as well as the novel “Ghost Alexander Wolf” (1947).
