This monograph examines the variability of measuring features of the enormous hominids - from Australopithecus to the appearance of a modern type of man, the uneven evolution of different parts of the brain is described, its main trends and directions are traced. Assumptions have been put forward about the causes of a sharp acceleration of brain evolution in the transition from Australopithecus to the “early Homo” and reducing brain volume over the past 25-27 thousand years. Based on endocraniological data, a number of assumptions of a phylogenetic and taxonomic nature are put forward. For the first time, the book was published in 2007 (M., URSS), becoming the first generalizing work on this topic, published in Russian.
