The face of war
American journalist Marta Gellhorn was a witness to the largest military clashes of the 20th century: from the Civil War in Spain to World War II, from Soviet-Finnish to the Arab-Israeli war, from the American invasion of Vietnam to Salvador and Nicaragua in the 1980s. Despising the lies of official press releases, Gellhorn climbed everywhere in the bead, talked with soldiers, wounded and refugees and wrote what the war looks like for ordinary people who fell into her millstone. The author’s collection of reports “The Face of War”, which covered almost fifty years of bloodshed and unsuccessful attempts to establish a strong world - a sharp, as a slap, a statement about the state of mankind, is not at all outdated for the next half century.
