Ilya Efimovich Repin (1844–1930) - an outstanding painter, teacher, a full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts, a master of portrait, historical and household paintings. As the teacher raised a galaxy of famous artists: B. M. Kustodiev, I. E. Grabar, V. A. Serov and others. He also possessed an outstanding literary gift. The autobiographical book “Far Seeing” contains the artist’s memoirs about the vivid impressions of childhood, about the years of study at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, about acquaintance and partnership with the teacher I. N. Kramskoy, about working on the famous painting “Burlaki on the Volga”.
Before writing a particular story, Repin told her guests several times to make sure that history really causes interest. Written in Kuokkala and prepared for printing in 1915, the book was published only 7 years after the death of the author- in 1937.
