The fire of love for the Fatherland. 2nd edition. Shishkov A.S.
The book for the first time since the mid-19th century publishes the main works of the outstanding state and public figure, the great scientist-philologist, the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Admiral Alexander Semenovich Shishkov (1754-1841). Shishkov’s works in the field of philology played an important role in the formation of the Russian literary language. Shishkov’s ideas had a significant impact on literature, enlightenment, politics and ideology. In the 1820s, he was one of the main leaders of the Russian Party, who opposed Western influence, liberalism and Freemasonry. As the Minister of Education Shishkov, he saw the main task of education in investing in the soul of the child “Fire of Popular Pride”, “Fire of Love for the Fatherland”, which could ensure national education, developing knowledge on his native soil, in his native language. Preference should be given to the teaching of the Russian language, domestic history and law. The efforts of Shishkov adopted a new charter on censorship directed against the distribution of revolutionary, liberal and mystical ideas in Russian society.
