The flowers of Evil. Bodler Sh.
The poetic collection "Flowers of Evil" is the great work of Charles Baudler, one of the largest poets of France of the 19th century. The hero of the cycle breaks between the ideal of spiritual beauty and the beauty of the vice, he is tormented by a feeling of bifurcation and a thirst for death. The “Flowers of Evil” included in the treasury of world literature are published in the translation of Adrian Lamel, the Russian poet-translator of Swiss origin. This most complete of all available translations of the collection was published in Paris in 1929 and gave rise to the myth that its author is Marina Tsvetaeva herself.
“In the work of Adrian Lamble there is one great dignity: it is made very carefully and, apparently, with great love. It’s nice to turn over and read it. It lies with the imprint of general culture. There is a weak, but still not finally disappearing the reflection of one of the deepest talents that have ever been on Earth, ”wrote Georgy Adamovich
